Mr. Helmick

Welcome Knights!

I am Mr. Helmick and I will be your 5th Grade Math teacher for this upcoming school year!

This will be my 13th year of teaching and my third year at Inspiration Mountain. I am very excited to have had the opportunity to open this school as one of the original staff members! It was a professional goal to be able to help build a school from the ground up. I consider myself fortunate to be among the professional faculty here at Inspiration Mountain School. I graduated from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in December 2012 with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. As an Arizona native, I grew up right in the north Phoenix area. I was very involved in theatre in high school and I have had both on stage and backstage experience. I prefer the backstage experience more! I will be the Medieval Times Drama Club Co-Sponsor at Inspiration Mountain as well. Teaching math is my passion, and I am excited to share that with all the students that come into my classroom.

I am sure that this school year will prove to be exciting, challenging, and very educational. It is my belief and goal that students in my classroom will become life-long learners. In order to achieve this, the students will engage in a variety of educational experiences including cooperative learning, self-discovery, project-based learning, and individual instruction.

I realize that teaching your child is a privilege, as well as a tremendous responsibility. I will do my best this year to ensure that each student has a motivating and safe learning experience in the classroom. I take very seriously the influence I will have on your child and will make every effort to build a solid foundation that will ensure continued success in the years to come. However, I cannot do this alone: I need your help. We both need to be partners in the learning process. I need each of you to encourage your child at home by helping to ensure that they have completed their assignments.

I am looking forward to a great year with your child in my classroom. If there is anything that I can do to help your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.
