Hello! My name is Mr. Helmick, and I am thrilled to be your child’s 5th Grade Math teacher this school year! This will be my 14th year in education and my fourth year here at Inspiration Mountain School. I am proud to be one of the founding staff members who helped open our school—a professional milestone that I hold close to my heart. Being part of this incredible team of educators is truly an honor.
I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University (NAU) in December 2012. As a native of Arizona and a product of the north Phoenix area, I have a deep connection to our community and a strong commitment to helping students thrive.
Outside the classroom, I have a background in theater and enjoy the behind-the-scenes magic even more than being on stage. That passion continues today in my role as one of the Drama Club Co-Sponsors here at Inspiration Mountain. Students in grades 5 - 8 Grade can participate in this after school club.
Math has always been my teaching passion, and I’m excited to share that enthusiasm with every student who enters my classroom. I am deeply honored to have been recognized as one of the 2024–2025 DVUSD Teachers of the Year—an accolade that reflects my dedication to student success.
I believe this school year will be filled with excitement, growth, and meaningful learning. In our classroom, students will experience a variety of learning strategies, including cooperative work, self-discovery, project-based activities, and one-on-one instruction. My ultimate goal is to help each student become a lifelong learner.
Teaching your child is a privilege and a great responsibility—one that I take very seriously. I am committed to creating a safe, inspiring, and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed. That said, education is a partnership. Your involvement at home plays a vital role in your child’s success, and I truly appreciate your support in ensuring assignments are completed and learning continues beyond the classroom.
