Welcome, Knights!

Welcome to an exciting new school year! My name is Mr. Helmick, and I am honored to be your child's 5th-grade math teacher. I am excited to partner with you to help make this a successful and rewarding year of learning and growth.

This year marks my 15th year in education and my fifth year at Inspiration Mountain School. As one of the founding staff members who helped open our school, I take great pride in being part of its history and continued success.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University in December 2012.

Mathematics has always been my greatest passion as an educator, and I look forward to sharing that enthusiasm with every student who enters my classroom. I am also deeply honored to have been recognized as one of the 2024–2025 DVUSD Teachers of the Year, an achievement that reflects my commitment to excellence in teaching and to the success of every student.

Throughout the year, students will engage in a variety of instructional approaches designed to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of mathematics. Our classroom will incorporate collaborative learning, guided discovery, project-based experiences, individualized support, and meaningful opportunities for students to apply their learning in authentic ways. My goal is not only to help students develop strong mathematical skills but also to cultivate confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

I am looking forward to an incredible year filled with learning, growth, and achievement. Thank you for entrusting me with your child's education.
