Class Expectations
-
Seventh grade is a transitional year for students as they move from elementary to middle school, bringing increased academic rigor and evolving social-emotional demands. As we begin the year, the 7th grade team wanted to share our expectations for student behavior in the classroom and throughout the school. Establishing a clear understanding of these guidelines helps create a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment for everyone.
In our classrooms, students are expected to demonstrate respectful and responsible behavior at all times. This includes:
Punctuality and Preparedness: Arriving on time, in their seat, and ready to learn when the bell rings. This means having all necessary materials, such as notebooks, pencils, and charged devices, with them daily.
Active Listening: Giving their full attention when a teacher or a classmate is speaking. Interruptions are disruptive, so students should raise their hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
Respectful Communication: Using appropriate language and tone with everyone. Disrespectful language, profanity, or slang have no place in our classroom.
Staying on Task: Remaining focused on assignments and activities. This includes minimizing distractions and using classroom technology only for assigned work. Unless specifically instructed, personal electronic devices should be turned off and put away during class time.
Following Directions: Promptly and calmly following all instructions. This is especially important during transitions and when working with materials that require careful handling.
Care for Our Space: Keeping our classroom and their personal workspace clean and treating all school property, including textbooks and equipment, with care.
Inspiration Mountain is implementing PBIS. This is a systems approach to behavior management that focuses on positive interventions. The school has established school-wide expectations so we can be consistent from grade to grade.

Remember, these expectations are in place to create a positive and conducive learning environment for everyone. By following these guidelines, we can all work together to have a successful and rewarding 7th grade experience.
