Smilovici, Jaime

Hello My name is Jaime Smilovici and I am delighted to be the 7th/8th grade academic counselor. I am an Arizona native and have over twenty years experience working with students in schools. I am both a Wildcat (Graduated 1996 Bachelors in Sociology) and a Sun Devil (Graduated 1999 Masters in Social Work). I tend to love ASU currently because my son is a finance major there :).

I have worked in WESD for fifteen years as a school social worker, several years in Cave Creek Unified School District as a prevention coordinator/counselor, and most recently I had my own business, AZ Girl Power/AZ Boy Power. I have valuable experience working with many diverse populations of students; low-income, special needs, youth with mental and physical challenges, and a variety of ethnicities, cultures, and languages spoken. 

I believe one of my natural gifts is connecting with students and developing a trusting, authentic rapport with them. Specifically, I love empowering students to be successful academically, emotionally, and socially. I look forward to bringing my positive attitude and energy to the staff and students at Inspiration Mountain. 

In my free time, I love spending time with my family; my awesome sons are 16 and 19 years old and my beautiful cocker spaniel, Piper is eleven years old. My passion is hot yoga and I love practicing as many times a week as possible.  I also follow my son closely who plays MLS Next Competitive youth soccer and I enjoy hiking in the cooler weather. 

At IM, I plan to be the coordinator of students' 504 plans, check in with middle school students, facilitate weekly Chew Crew lunch groups (7th/8th) and assist with any students in crisis. I look forward to meeting each one of you.
